MISSOURI RIVER DAY PARK – MASTERPLAN & PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT
The Missouri River Day Park Masterplan was used to explore the possibility of a new State Park in central North Dakota. The design team engaged a thorough list of recreational, historical, and cultural stakeholders through site visits, meetings, and design charettes. The best use of the park was identified as a mostly passive-use nature park that could accommodate seasonal flooding. The plan included a network of trail systems, boardwalks, observation decks, fishing piers, non-motorized watersport facilities, and a digital interpretive system. Active uses such as band shells, pollinator gardens, and picnic shelters were also integrated into the plan.
