The Bismarck Riverfront Idea


AGL Landscape Architects and the Fort Abraham Lincoln Foundation, applied for and were awarded a planning grant from the North Dakota Department of Commerce, Tourism Division.  A yearlong planning effort explored ways to make Bismarck’s riverfront more accessible, inclusive, and marketable to visitors and residents alike.  The plan outlined recommendations for riverfront improvements in all public use areas along a 19 mile stretch of riverfront.  Additionally, three “Game-Changer” projects were identified that would be most transformative for Bismarck’s riverfront.  A robust public input process was used to ensure the results would satisfy the wishes and contribute to the identity of the community.  More information about this project can be found at
