Woodland Trail

Woodland Trail – park improvements

This 47-acre, wooded property is located along the Souris River is Minot, North Dakota.  Phase 1 of the project included construction of a 6-foot-wide, 3,100-foot-long crushed aggregate trail with a small trail-head parking lot and entrance sign. Phase 2 included another 4,450 feet of crushed aggregate trail.  A major obstacle was finding a solution to cross two oxbows that connect the trail system together. The solution included a floating gangways that crosses the oxbows without disturbing the natural river corridor and eliminated the need to add any fill material in the floodway.  The result is a safe and efficient trail connection to previously isolated portions of the park land.
